What is it about?
From the very beginning, we will introduce the correct idea of this part of the body, since the term “shoulder” for a person far from anatomy is represented by a part of the body that is between the neck, back and arm of the human body. However, this is not the case. The shoulder begins from the elbow and continues to the shoulder fold, which is located near the neck. What is commonly considered in the household sense shoulder, in fact, wears the term "shoulder girdle". This part of the body serves to connect the upper limb with the trunk. We now turn to the biceps muscle itself, also called the “biceps”. Everybody knows this part of the body.And the more famous muscle, perhaps, except perhaps the heart. Biceps consists of two parts:
- long head of the biceps of the shoulder;
- short head.
The long portion of the biceps muscle originates from the scapula (supra-articular tubercle). From her, she stretches across the back of her shoulder and reaches the elbow, where she weaves with a short head. The attachment of the short head is on the coracoid process. This process is located on the outside of the scapula. Its length reaches the elbow, passing through the entire inner part of the humerus. Closer to the elbow, the short head is intertwined with the long head, forming a kind of lump. He is called biceps.
The biceps muscle of the shoulder is attached to the bones. Biceps is a powerful flexor, due to its connection with the elbow joint. Due to the fact that the biceps is attached to the radial bone, it is also the instep of the hand. Thanks to the biceps, the hand flexes, rotates, etc. If the elbow is at a right angle, then the hand turns toward the ceiling. If the elbow is in a straight position, then the palm turns forward.

As we already know, the biceps muscle is responsible for flexing the arms at the elbows, and twists the hands in different directions. Biceps can also be used when raising hands in front of you. This is due to the fastening of its long head to the muscles of the scapula. Proceeding from this, in order to completely unbend the long head of the biceps, it is necessary to extend the outstretched arms to the sides, and then, without bending, to send them back.
The tendon of the biceps muscle is easy to detect when the arm is bent. Short and long heads are easy to grope under the skin. The same applies to the tendon part of the muscle.
The correct effect on the long head of the biceps
In order for the effect of the exercise to have the greatest efficiency in the long head, the arms must be constantly unbend at the elbows. In other words, they must be in the backward direction relative to the body. Being stretched, the long head has a greater tension, which contributes to the rapid impact of the load on the muscle. As a rule, such a phenomenon is characteristic of those who are already over 40. Most often this happens when a person carries a load in front of him. Especially older people tend to get breaks due to the loss of strength of the biceps muscle. And it is inevitable. For women, this phenomenon is practically not peculiar due to rare loads on the hands.
In order to prevent rupture, it is necessary to warm up the muscles of your arms whenever it comes to loads. Being engaged in the gym, it is necessary before each exercise to knead the muscles in the part to which work it is directed. It seems funny if a man, while unloading the car, will warm up his hands in front of each box. However, these are quite normal safety measures for the muscles, allowing them to avoid breaking.
