Manor "Dubrovitsy"

“I hate the light of monotonous stars.
Hello, my old nonsense, towers pointed growth!
Become a lace, stone, and a web,
Heaven empty chest thin needle early. "(O. Mandelstam)

Manor "Dubrovitsy" - an old manor in the suburbs near Podolsk, on the banks of the rivers Pakhra and Desna. It is not bad to combine a trip to the estate with a visit to the estate “Ostafyevo”, which is located nearby, and a walk around Podolsk.

By car we drive from Moscow along the Simferopol highway to Podolsk. From Lenin Square, turn right onto Kirov Street. We pass the gun on the right side, and we see a pointer to the right to Dubrovitsy. Further along Oktyabrsky Avenue, a few more minutes, and we will see the Church of the Sign of the Most Holy Theotokos. It’s easiest to go from subway station Yuzhnaya by bus number 417 to the village of Dubrovitsy.

It is not easy to park near the manor itself because of the huge number of wedding processions, and you need to drive a little further and get up near this manor building, called "Konyushenny Dvor".

All industrial buildings near the Stables yard are painted with graffiti dedicated to the war of 1812. I am not a big fan of this genre, so I will not dwell on it.
Dubrovitsy estate

The first mention of the estate "Dubrovitsy" refers to 1627, when it was owned by boyar I.V. Morozov, an approximate of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. After his death, the owner of the estate became his daughter Xenia, who married Prince I.A. Golitsyna. And the estate passed into the possession of the princes Golitsyn almost a hundred years.

Later, one of the owners, Lieutenant Sergei Golitsyn owed a large amount of money, and the estate bought the favorite of Catherine II, Grigory Potemkin. But Dubrovitsy did not belong to him for a long time, and only a few years later the manor passed to another empress's favorite, Count Dmitriev-Mamonov.

In 1919, a museum of noble life was located in the manor building, which was quickly looted, and the building was transferred to an orphanage, and then to an agricultural technical school. And in 1961 the building was occupied by the All-Union Institute of Livestock.

The manor itself is not particularly interesting. Actually, besides the main house there are only a stable yard, a few outbuildings and a church. But what a church!
Dubrovitsy estate

This is a pearl.Perhaps this is the most extraordinary, beautiful and mysterious temple of the Moscow region. The architect and builders of this temple remained unknown. We can only say that both foreign and Russian masters worked on the creation of the church.
Dubrovitsy estate

The construction of the church dates back to the time when the estate was owned by the tutor of Peter I, Prince Boris Alekseevich Golitsyn. At some point he was slandered before the king, and he ordered him to retire to his estate out of sight.

The sovereign was otkhodchiv, his anger passed fairly quickly, and a year later, Boris Alekseevich was summoned to Moscow and he was granted a boyar title. It is believed that it was in a sign of reconciliation with Peter I that the prince decided to build a new white-stone church in Dubrovitsy.

The construction was carried out from local stone mined in the Podolsk quarries. On the one hand, this material is easy to process, and on the other hand, it is durable enough to work out fine details, such as fine carving of the temple decoration. The construction came and the king himself. In 1697 the temple was built.

However, another five years elapsed before its consecration. Apparently, Golitsyn wanted to invite Tsar Peter I to Dubrovitsy to consecrate the Znamenskaya Church, which was impossible until 1704, because the sovereign at that time almost did not visit Moscow and was on the road.

Moreover, Patriarch Adrian refused to consecrate the temple, citing too strong an imitation of the architecture of the temple to the Catholic style.

Only in 1704, in the presence of Peter the Great, the temple was consecrated and received the name of the Church of the Sign of the Sign. The Tsar himself and his son Tsarevich Alexei were present at the service on that day. Celebrations on this occasion lasted a whole week and they invited all local residents.

The temple has 4 entrances from all 4 sides of the world. In front of the main entrance, on the sides of the western staircase rise two white stone sculptures. On the left side (above my wife) - Gregory the Theologian with a book, and on the right side - John Chrysostom with a book and a miter standing at his feet.

Not far from the church through the fence is the main manor house. There is nothing particularly remarkable, there is no museum inside, and each new owner rebuilt it for himself.
Dubrovitsy estate

Under the first owner, the boyar Ivan Morozov, the village of Dubrovitsy consisted of a boyar court, a cow house, and several peasants. On the territory of the estate was built a church of Elijah the Prophet of wood.

Capital construction of the estate began at the end of the XVII century. And he took up Prince Boris Golitsyn.Under him, the dilapidated church of Elijah the Prophet is replaced by the magnificent temple of the Sign of the Most Holy Theotokos.

The next owner, engaged in the construction of Dubrovits, was the unremarkable prince S.A. Golitsyn, who inherited the estate. He builds a baroque palace of stone. Later, AMDmitriev-Mamonov rebuilt the facades of the main house in the style of classicism.

From the mountain on which the manor stands, far below we see Podolsk. And on the ground in front of the outbuildings numerous weddings start to come together.
Dubrovitsy estate

In general, it is very wise to combine the Institute of Livestock and the district registry office in the same building. Choose what is closer to you in spirit.

It is difficult to say for sure whether the lion is a symbol of successful animal husbandry, or, on the contrary, a symbol of happy love.
Dubrovitsy estate

I think that this is correct - before a long wedding feast after the registry office and the wedding, go to some beautiful historical place for a walk. And in Dubrovitsy and go nowhere is not necessary, all in one bottle - the registry office, church, manor and restaurant.
Dubrovitsy estate

Gradually, wedding processions begin to gather. I don’t think that Muscovites will go here, and the local youth have a choice, either to go here or to the estate of Ostafyevo.
Dubrovitsy estate

The restaurant is located in the basement of the main manor house. We did not go to it, especially since on summer weekends it serves only weddings. I believe that the prices there are wedding.
Dubrovitsy estate

Some guests are already initially strongly in degrees. We heard a very interesting dialogue. Sorry, I did not take pictures. There are three guests from one of the weddings, a man in a "suit with shimmer" is very drunk, his wife and girl in an evening dress, obviously the bride's girlfriend.
Man girl: In short, from Monday you will work in my office, understand?
Wife to the peasant: Kohl, in which office? You are an alcoholic. You, even from handymen ZhEKa for drunkenness have turned! Which office?
Man girl: Come exactly ten, tell the protection, from me, I agree.
Wife to the peasant: Kolya, you are just drunk! What security? And if she really comes? Do not drink more.
Man wife: Fool!
Man girl: My secretary spends you further, I will tell her.
Wife to the peasant: Kolya, you are a moron! Do not drink more, another glass, and you will become Putin! So mom said, do not go for this monster!
Man wife: Sheep!
Man girl: I love the order at work was! No damn migli!
Dubrovitsy estate

In the photo above we see the main house already on the back side. Two rather steep stairs descend from it, which are clearly not for those who have moved the guests.
Dubrovitsy estate

On the other hand, behind the temple, there is a man-made hill with a viewing platform. Each wedding considers it their duty to get on it. It would be better if they offered flowers to some eternal flame.
Dubrovitsy estate

The number of locks is impressive. And even more depressing me. No, I love weddings. I just really dislike all kinds of locks.
Dubrovitsy estate

Upstairs castles even more. Whether Podolsk is a very youth city, or in the Moscow region there is no place to marry. And most likely, due to the lack of other entertainment, local people get married and divorced many times.
Dubrovitsy estate

View from the top of the hill to the church. In 1910, architect Sergey Makovsky said about the Dubrovitsky church: “... nothing of the kind can be found in great Russia, nothing extravagant ... it's more charming to simply invent!”
Dubrovitsy estate

And on the other side of the hill is a holiday. A lot of people having a rest, some rock bands play, in kiosks food and souvenirs are sold.
Dubrovitsy estate

Among the rest, I notice my faithful, who, as is her custom, is chewing on something.
Dubrovitsy estate

And on the opposite side of the estate there is a “French park” with ancient linden alleys.
Dubrovitsy estate

In the park there are such strange elevations with steps. Apparently, before them were monuments or gazebos.
Dubrovitsy estate

And below, under the temple and observation platform is located the Singing Field. For many years creative people have been gathering on it, singing songs and reading poems.
Dubrovitsy estate

Here in 2011, the year opened a monument to the poet Marina Tsvetaeva. More precisely, not a monument, but a stone with the lines of Marina Ivanovna stamped on it.
Dubrovitsy estate

What relation does Marina Tsvetaeva have to Dubrovits? In general, no, it seems in these places has never even been. For some time now, lovers of her creativity in October began to arrange "Tsvetaevskie kostry" on the Singing Field, so the monument here is quite logical.
Dubrovitsy estate

And just before leaving, we will go to the bathhouse, which is part-time selpo. It sells cold apple and pear cider, which is very useful in the heat. In Moscow, I did not see this drink (apparently a local firm).
Dubrovitsy estate

For a long time I was going to show this unique and unlikely temple in the Moscow region. And here came the article of my old Internet friendraven_yellow - in which he recorded in a very detailed way both this monument of architecture and all its surroundings.
Thank you, Alexey, for this article.
